workspace settings
The Workspace settings page in WPShift allows you to manage essential configuration details for your workspace, including the name, API key, and any custom notes. Keeping these settings up to date is essential for organizing your workspace, managing access, and securely migrating sites to WPShift.
1. updating workspace information
In the General team information section, you can modify the following fields:
- Name: Enter or edit the name of the workspace. Choose a descriptive name, especially if you manage multiple workspaces.
- Notes: Add any relevant notes for this workspace. This field can store custom information, project details, or reminders for team members (up to 1,000 characters).
After making changes, click Save changes to update the workspace information.
2. managing the API key
The API key is a unique identifier that allows secure communication between your WordPress sites and WPShift. This key is essential for using the WPShift Importer plugin, enabling easy site migration and automated deployments.
- View API key: To view the API key, navigate to this section. Use this key with caution and only share it with authorized users.
- Generate a new API key: If you need to reset the API key for security reasons, click Generate a new API key. Regenerating the API key will invalidate the old key, so you will need to update any services or integrations that rely on it.
important notes on API key security
- Keep the API key confidential: The API key grants access to your WPShift account. Ensure it is only shared with trusted team members.
- Regenerate if compromised: If you suspect the key has been compromised, generate a new API key immediately and update connected services.
