How to create a server

Creating a server in WPShift is a straightforward process designed to get your WordPress hosting environment up and running quickly. Follow the steps below to create a server seamlessly.

Prerequisites

Before creating a server, ensure you have set up server providers in the workspace where you want the server to be created. This is a one-time configuration that links your WPShift account to your preferred cloud providers.

Steps to create a server

  1. Navigate to the servers tab
In your WPShift dashboard, go to the Servers tab.

  2. Click the create server button
Locate the Create Server button and click on it to begin the server setup process.

  3. Select a provider
Choose a server provider from the list of integrated options. Supported providers include DigitalOcean, Vultr, Hetzner, Linode, or your own custom server.

  4. Choose credentials
After selecting a provider, pick the correct set of credentials configured for that provider in your workspace.

  5. Enter server details

    • Name: Provide a name for your server. This name will help you identify it later.
    • Installation type:
      • Recommended: Installs a pre-configured setup using Ubuntu 24.04, Nginx, PHP 8.3, and MySQL 8.0. This option is ideal for most users and ensures an optimized WordPress environment.
      • Custom: Allows you to fully control the installation process by customizing each setting. Perfect for power users or those with specific requirements.
  6. Select server size and location
Choose a server size that fits your needs and a data center location for optimal performance based on your target audience.

  7. Confirm and start installation
Once you’ve completed the configuration, confirm your choices. WPShift will begin provisioning the server, installing all necessary software and optimizations. This process typically takes around 10 minutes.

Important considerations during installation

  • Do not interfere with the server: Avoid turning off the server or making manual changes while WPShift is installing. Doing so will cause the installation to fail.
  • Notifications: If anything goes wrong during the installation, we will notify you via email.

Post-installation details

Once the server is provisioned, you will receive an email with the server’s passwords and configuration details. This email is only sent once and cannot be resent, so ensure you keep it safe for future reference.
