Maintenance
The Maintenance page in WPShift allows you to enable or disable maintenance mode for your WordPress site. Maintenance mode is useful for temporarily taking your site offline for updates, troubleshooting, or other backend changes, without interrupting the experience for end-users when they visit the site.
Enabling maintenance mode
To activate maintenance mode:
- Navigate to the Maintenance page for the site.
- Click Enable maintenance mode.
Once enabled, visitors to your site will see a maintenance page indicating that the site is temporarily unavailable. This keeps your site secure and provides a professional appearance while updates or changes are made.
Disabling maintenance mode
To bring your site back online:
- Return to the Maintenance page.
- Click Disable maintenance mode.
Disabling maintenance mode will restore full access to the site for visitors.
Best practices for maintenance mode
- Schedule maintenance during low-traffic periods: Minimize the impact on users by enabling maintenance mode when your site’s traffic is at its lowest.
- Test your changes: While in maintenance mode, take the opportunity to review and test any updates or configurations before re-enabling access.
- Communicate with users: If possible, inform regular visitors of scheduled downtime, either via social media or a notification on your site.
The Maintenance feature in WPShift ensures you can make site updates safely and professionally, helping maintain a smooth user experience while managing essential backend work.
